{"id":2859,"date":"2011-06-11T23:40:27","date_gmt":"2011-06-12T04:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/65.175.102.14\/?p=2859"},"modified":"2013-07-01T15:57:04","modified_gmt":"2013-07-01T20:57:04","slug":"welcome-to-bismarck-mandan-home-of-the-no-fly-zone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/?p=2859","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Bismarck-Mandan, home of the No-Fly Zone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/etc\/notam_1-6326.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/center>Just in case you thought you might find a way to hop a flight with a pilot friend and get your own birds-eye view of the flooding situation, I thought I&#8217;d pass along this little tidbit: Bismarck-Mandan is a no fly zone for air traffic below 5000 ft MSL, shown in the red area above.<\/p>\n<p>The FAA put out <a href=\"http:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/save_pages\/detail_1_6325.html\" target=\"_blank\">NOTAM (Notice To AirMen) 1\/6326<\/a> on June 5th with very specific instructions that really don&#8217;t leave local pilots much room. My guess is that they fear that the same bunch of lookey-loo gapers that caused traffic jams from one end of the metro area to the other will find a way to take to the air, and that causes a hazardous situation over an area where a rescue is a near-certain impossibility.<\/p>\n<p><center><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/etc\/notam_1-6325.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" border=\"0\" \/><\/center>Oh yeah&#8230;right before that they issued <a href=\"http:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/save_pages\/detail_1_6326.html\" target=\"_blank\">NOTAM 1\/6325<\/a>, which declares the same sort of thing around Garrison Dam.
