cookies in a few easy steps (Firefox)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you run into that annoying notification from the Bismarck Tribune or other affiliated newspapers&#8217; websites saying that you&#8217;ve viewed your quote of free articles for the month?\u00a0 This is only the latest attempt by the publishers to monetize content that other sites give for free.\u00a0 They do so by putting &#8220;cookies&#8221; on your computer to track your use without asking you for permission.\u00a0 It&#8217;s simple to deny them this intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>Here are directions for doing so in the Firefox browser.\u00a0 Yes, I know Mozilla supports homofascism, but what can ya do.\u00a0 Boycott locally, I always say.\u00a0 If one decides to boycott every national business who hasn&#8217;t either caved in to or embraced the queer agenda, one will be hard pressed to purchase anything these days.\u00a0 Anyway&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4305\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall01.jpg\" alt=\"syncwall01\" width=\"435\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall01.jpg 435w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall01-130x150.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall01-261x300.jpg 261w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/a>First, go to your Options (under the Tools menu) and select the Privacy tab as shown above.\u00a0 You need to select &#8220;Use custom settings for history&#8221;.\u00a0 That will change what appears below it, giving you options as far as how cookies are treated by the browser.<\/p>\n<p>Then you&#8217;ll want to click on &#8220;Show Cookies&#8230;&#8221; to set up a rule preventing future unauthorized cookies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4303\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2014\/11\/syncwall04.jpg\" alt=\"syncwall04\" width=\"478\" height=\"446\" \/><\/a>In the &#8220;Address or website:&#8221; box, type in &#8220;bismarcktribune.com&#8221; or whatever other site has been putting syncwall cookies on your machine, and click &#8220;Block&#8221;.\u00a0 As you can see above, I already have.\u00a0 This will prevent future unauthorized tracking cookies from being placed on your computer without your permission.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it!\u00a0 You have now prevented sites using Syncwall from putting unauthorized content on your machine.\u00a0 That is, at least until they come up with another scheme.\u00a0 I wonder how this will work out for them.\u00a0 In the past they&#8217;ve played around with restricting content to paid subscribers, and it hasn&#8217;t worked well for them.\u00a0 There are multiple news sources on the web providing similar content for free, so I doubt that viewers are likely to want to pay for it from the newspapers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you run into that annoying notification from the Bismarck Tribune or other affiliated newspapers&#8217;
