{"id":4431,"date":"2015-01-31T21:11:16","date_gmt":"2015-02-01T02:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/?p=4431"},"modified":"2015-02-01T21:27:34","modified_gmt":"2015-02-02T02:27:34","slug":"oprah-white-people-just-have-to-die-no-thats-not-what-she-meant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/?p=4431","title":{"rendered":"Oprah: &#8220;White people just have to die.&#8221; No, that&#8217;s not what she meant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/01\/oprah.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/01\/oprah.jpg\" alt=\"oprah\" width=\"500\" height=\"314\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/01\/oprah.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/01\/oprah-150x94.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/01\/oprah-478x300.jpg 478w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>So this weekend I saw a Facebook link to web article expressing outrage at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TPggmkWbxxg\" target=\"_blank\">a video<\/a> in which Oprah purportedly makes the comment portrayed in the graphic above.\u00a0 Well, that&#8217;s provocative.\u00a0 While it&#8217;s implying something she didn&#8217;t mean, it also highlights something that Oprah isn&#8217;t counting on.\u00a0 First, let&#8217;s point out what even the article admits she said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die,\u201d she proclaimed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So what Oprah <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">isn&#8217;t<\/span> saying is that <em>all<\/em> white people should just die.\u00a0 We get that.\u00a0 But she&#8217;s still tragically mistaken.<\/p>\n<p>What she&#8217;s saying is that there are generations of people alive right now who grew up with racism, and that they&#8217;re probably never going to see things differently.\u00a0 Her hope, as I infer from the quote, is that when those people eventually pass away that racism will die with them.\u00a0 Sounds like a plausible idea and a reasonable hope.\u00a0 But there&#8217;s a problem.<\/p>\n<p>Liberal progressive leftist Democrats have instituted a replacement for that racism in the form of modern day Racism\u2122.\u00a0 Race is an industry now, and business is booming.\u00a0 These days, simply disagreeing with a leftist of any origin is immediately Racist\u2122, and actual race doesn&#8217;t even need to be involved.\u00a0 It&#8217;s gotten so bad that <a title=\"Godwin's Law\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Godwin%27s_law\" target=\"_blank\">Godwin&#8217;s Law<\/a> may have to be clarified to add &#8220;Racist&#8221; alongside &#8220;Nazi&#8221; as a reflexive insult when someone is losing an argument.<\/p>\n<p>The generation(s) to which Oprah is referring will be gone someday.\u00a0 Unfortunately they will have been replaced with a battered and fatigued generation of Racists\u2122 who may not even understand the history of race relations in the United States.\u00a0 They certainly won&#8217;t be living in realization of Dr. King&#8217;s dream, where people are &#8220;judged not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character&#8221;.\u00a0 Sadly, you can thank the left for that&#8230;the very people who claim to be the most compassionate and the most color blind.
