{"id":4889,"date":"2015-12-29T08:41:10","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T13:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/?p=4889"},"modified":"2015-12-29T08:41:10","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T13:41:10","slug":"a-brilliant-new-feature-at-the-state-capitol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/?p=4889","title":{"rendered":"A brilliant new feature at the state capitol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36168.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4888\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36168-333x500.jpg\" alt=\"capitol_new_star_36168\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36168.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36168-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36168-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a>If you&#8217;re like me and enjoy taking in the sight of the decorated capitol building each Christmas, then I&#8217;m sure you noticed something brilliantly new this year about the decorations.\u00a0 In fact, it is visible from a <strong>long<\/strong> distance away: the new lighting on the stars atop the tower.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36181.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4887\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36181-333x500.jpg\" alt=\"capitol_new_star_36181\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36181.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36181-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36181-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a>An interesting anecdote about these stars: my best friend&#8217;s dad built them and, in an old-school display of awesomeness, airlifted them to the top of the tower with a National Guard helicopter.\u00a0 This was about 45 years ago.\u00a0 They have since been touched up with welding to repair corrosion on the tips, had their mounts modified, been updated with different lighting sometime in the 80s, and they now sport some awesome LED light bars.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36190.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-4886\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36190-333x500.jpg\" alt=\"capitol_new_star_36190\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36190.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36190-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2015\/12\/capitol_new_star_36190-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/a>Like a nice, white, star-shaped cherry on top.\u00a0 At a friend&#8217;s house on the big hill directly east of the tower, you can still see the stars from a 90 degree angle.\u00a0 They originally caught my eye from east Century Avenue!\u00a0 In other words, these stars are extremely visible and make a fantastic accent to the Christmas decoration of the tower windows.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t care if today is the 29th.\u00a0 Merry Christmas!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;re like me and enjoy taking in the sight of the decorated capitol building each Christmas, then I&#8217;m sure you noticed something brilliantly new this year about the decorations.\u00a0 In fact, it is visible from a long distance away: &hellip;
