While it still stands, technically, I think a more accurate term would be that it sits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60337-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60337-9.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60337-9-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60337-9-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The concrete floor has finally given way, and the wooden braces have punched through.  That allowed the entire building to shift backwards, which I believe is the only reason it&#8217;s still precariously upright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60004-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60004-6.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60004-6-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_60004-6-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see here, the fact that the church pivoted back and onto the dirt behind the back wall is what has kept it upright after the failure of its supports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_61363-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_61363-5.jpg 333w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_61363-5-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2019\/06\/church_61363-5-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, that&#8217;s also what is tearing this building in half. It&#8217;s one of my favorite local photo spots, and it&#8217;s sad to see it go.  Often when a building gets to this state of disrepair and instability, responsible parties destroy it before time does the inevitable.  After all, it is unsafe.
