With little kids and a membership, I noticed that the old building really could use some work.  Thankfully, Gateway to Science was able to build a new facility, and it&#8217;s spectacular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_dji_9554-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8086\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_dji_9554-8.png 500w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_dji_9554-8-150x100.png 150w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_dji_9554-8-450x300.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Yes, I know it&#8217;s built in a place known for landslides and may end up in the river someday, and that there&#8217;s evidence of previous slides right below it, but for now it looks fantastic.  There is, however, one prominent feature which catches my eye every time I come through town on I-94 and glance at it:  The Blue Rooster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_9541.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8090\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_9541.png 500w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_9541-150x100.png 150w, https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/gateway_to_science_9541-450x300.png 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Here it is.  Yes, I get it&#8230;it&#8217;s supposed to be an atom with its nucleus visible.  But the way it&#8217;s drawn, I can&#8217;t help but see it as a Blue Rooster.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t shoot the messenger: I didn&#8217;t come up with this.  I saw somebody mention it <em>once<\/em> in an obscure comment on an even more obscure social media post, and it stuck in my head.  Ain&#8217;t my fault if it sticks in yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bismarckmandanblog.com\/images\/2024\/07\/Blue-Rooster.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8087\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;m talking about, in case you couldn&#8217;t see it before.  Maybe it&#8217;s because I&#8217;ve been a bird owner, maybe it&#8217;s because I&#8217;m weird, but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">certainly<\/span> it&#8217;s because the logo <em>looks like a doggone rooster<\/em>.  And now I want to eat at the Blue Moose in Grand Forks because of the color association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Am I nuts?  Leave a comment.  Am I right about this, but nuts anyway?  Tell me that, too.
