Normally I don’t do any photo roaming during deer (rifle) season. It’s a good way to catch a stray bullet, and landowners are generally pretty edgy with all the randos out looking for a place to hunt – with or without permission. Naturally I’m sensitive to the landowners’ point of view, and one less vehicle ambling down the gravel road or section line can help enhance their calm. But today I opted to roam.<\/p>\n\n\n

I couldn’t help but stop by this old house, because I haven’t taken a photo of it in years<\/em> for no particular reason. It’s been twelve years, in fact. This photo is a prime example of why I mark all<\/span> my photo spots in my handheld GPS so I can revisit them later:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

This is what the house looked like in 2012, the last time I remember being here. It was an early spring, a beautiful day, and the clear skies were an absolute opposite of this day’s cloudy and overcast conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most notable features this time around is the pancaked grain bin. It perished in 2013-2014 sometime. Thankfully, the flattened top ended up in what I consider a photo-friendly place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naturally there’s a windmill involved. They always catch my eye, even if the blades and things are gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry way and steps are pretty cool looking. This house has actually weathered the years quite well, considering it’s been a dozen years and the conditions aren’t kind to an uninhabited house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The front looks so picturesque, with those glorious windows and everything. It’s a wonderful specimen for my “Fallen Farms” category, and I’m glad I took the time to revisit it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some sag looks apparent from this angle. It’s still absolutely beautiful. I may have to come back when the tree has its leaves, green or gold…I bet it’s even more stately with that going on. I’ve never been here with leaves on the tree, so now I have an idea for a future trip if I don’t want to travel far from my place!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
