From Bismarck to Berkeley: peaceniks deface US Marines offices

This truck was photographed in Berkeley, apparently on the weekend of October 7th, when the Code Pink (sic) loonies were on the job, apparently the only one they have, defacing public property. Thankfully the police found out about it and kept them from defacing the building again but they had plenty of nice things to say about the US military.

A friend sent me a link to this blog post this morning and pointed out that the truck looked familiar. Of course it does:

This is the same truck, which was parked in front of the federal building on 3rd and Rosser in June.  In comments to my blog post at that time, I was told by Kristin Kitko and others that I was disrespectful and lacked integrity, and that none of the peaceniks would stoop to that level. Really?

This is the license plate from the truck. It matches in both pictures. This truck, the one that was here for the protest with some of the lovely, non-name-calling members of the North Dakota Peace Coalition, took part in referring to United States soldiers as “predators.”

Here’s proof of “namecalling” by the loving peaceniks, courtesy of zombietime.com…

I saw this picture and thought the person holding the sign looked familiar. She could have been the driver of the aforementioned truck, but I’m not 100% sure on that. In any case, I believe calling a person a “predator” and a child killer (read the zombietime post for pics on that) is worse than the “name calling” behavior that Ms. Kitko and others accused me of, as it’s taken to a whole new level. Accusing people of being predators and child killers is a lot different than criticizing their politics.

You can know a lot about somebody by the friends they keep. These are the friends of the North Dakota Peace Coalition. I have NDPC literature on my desk with links to Code Pink on them…certainly one must be able to infer that they support Code Pink’s beliefs and actions. If that’s the case, then that lumps them in with the loonies that call our soldiers “predators” and strips them of what remaining credibility they imagined they had.

My response to the NRCC…again

I just got a fundraising letter in the mail from the National Republican Congressional Committee, asking for money to help them defeat the Democrats in upcoming elections. Here’s my response (and NO, I did not include a contribution with it…as will be evident from my letter):

To: Congressman Tom Cole, NRCC Chairman
Re: Membership contribution request

Dear Congressman Cole,

Thank you for the notification that my membership in the NRCC had lapsed. It is with good reason that I have allowed such a lapse to occur; it seems that members of Congress, elected to serve the people, have forgotten that they work for the American people and see us as more of a nuisance and hindrance than anything else.

You’re asking me for money to help you fight for reform…yet you had six years of total control in Washington in which to advance our agenda. Who fell asleep at the wheel? The same folks who want my hard-earned money now that they’re powerless to push anything through the House at all, and can merely stonewall Democrat bills in the Senate? What was my money paying for when you guys ran the joint?

The fact of the matter is, I am not sending you guys a penny. I, like many who vote Republican, am the antithesis of the “rich, evil Republican” that the Democrats like to portray. I make a modest living and am content doing so, and thought that sending some of my valuable money to you Republicans while you were in power would actually help you accomplish something. I was sorely mistaken, and I won’t be making such a poor investment any time in the near future.

Until I have assurance that Republicans in Congress will start representing the conservatives who stand by them despite repeated assaults from leftist Democrats, I will not support the NRCC in any way, especially with my hard-earned dollars. I will also suggest to my fellow conservatives that they do the same via my website and any other means at my disposal.

I was not one of those voters who “sat out” the last election in order to teach you Republicans a lesson. I do understand what’s at stake here. But for you to come back to us with your hat in your hand after a shameful squandering of six years in control of Washington is too much. I won’t vote with my wallet the way I will with my ballot. Either you Republicans in Congress had better start acting like conservatives, or you won’t have any support left from people who thought you were there to advance the causes about which we care most deeply.

Good luck. Your candidates will likely get my vote in 2008, but you won’t get one red cent. This time you earn it first. In the mean time, save yourself the embarassment of mailing your legal American supporters with your hat in your hand, asking us for money while simultaneously throwing us overboard.

PS: The same applies to Presidential candidates in 2008. At this point I remain firmly resolved to write-in Ronald Reagan.

Earl Pomeroy, Part Time Patriot

It seems that the only time I ever see Earl Pomeroy is when there’s some sort of photo op or grandstanding opportunity. That’s the nature of politics I suppose, since our congressmen are busy………well, I’m sure they’re busy doing SOMETHING.

Here we see Earl the Pearl walking the Mandan July 4th Parade. With his experience at moving BS, he should actually be working behind some of the horses! Yet he had the guts to walk in the same parade as our brave National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers…this after voting against American soldiers on a resolution that could have boosted their morale. Yet he pretends that never happened when he comes back to North Dakota.

Once again I caught a glimpse of good old Earl at the festivities at the State Capitol. While they played the Armed Forces Salute, Earl took the opportunity to clap and glance around at the folks behind him (he was in the first row). Mr. Pomeroy, you had a chance to show North Dakotans how you feel about the proud men and women who serve this country. You failed miserably by sticking with your leftist cronies and voting against a resolution to support those soldiers and give them a morale boost.

The PDF of the resolution he voted against, HR 861, can be found by clicking here. All the resolution did was give our troops a little morale boost by declaring that we WILL be victorious. That was too much for a dedicated liberal Democrat like Earl Pomeroy, yet he still wants to play like he’s a good patriot when he comes back home for the PR opportunities. That’s the perfect picture of hypocrisy.

The people of North Dakota should bounce this hypocrite out of office at the nearest opportunity.

Time to exercise our representative form of government

Don’t think it can’t happen here: illegal immigration DOES affect North Dakota. Earlier this week:

Construction on the new community building in Lignite came to a standstill last week when the crew walked off the job.

Marlis Glaspey, co-chair of the Lignite Community Builders Corp., stopped at the building site on Lignite’s main street to check on the workers’ progress Wednesday morning.

“I asked them questions, but they said they didn’t speak English and just kept shaking their heads no,” said Glaspey.

Not thinking much of it, Glaspey casually questioned whether the workers were legal, which was again met with no response.

Glaspey said she then left, and returned about 10 minutes later to find the crew had abandoned the site.

“They left their tools, their coolers, and everything, they just up and left,” said Glaspey. “It was the darndest thing.”

The company from which the pre-fabricated building was purchased, High Country Sentinel Contractors, is based out of South Dakota.

Glspey [sic] said High Country subcontracted with a building crew from a firm in Colorado.

This week, the Senate will vote on the ludicrous piece of legislation they refer to as comprehensive immigration reform, but people from all over the political spectrum refer to as “The Amnesty Bill.” It’s Senate Bill 1639, and it’s bad news.

What we all need to do is call our senators today and tell them we want them to vote NO on this bill. We already have laws on the books regarding legal and illegal immigration, and just before the election last year they voted to build a border fence. So why do they need this? Because this will convert millions of people here illegally into legals. It’s a slap in the face of the rule of law and the sovereignty of our borders. It’s going to have dire consequences for our nation, too.

Have you ever called one of our congressmen to voice your opinion? It’s easy, it takes about thirty seconds, and their staff will record your call. They have to. You don’t have to argue your opinion or debate with the person on the other end of the phone; you simply tell them how you want the senator to vote. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s a shame it doesn’t get used more. Although with this monster of a bill, even the senate.gov website is slow from being swamped!

You can find out the contact information of our senators by clicking here but I’ll give you the phone numbers as the senate website is already kinda slow.

Dorgan: (202) 224-2043 or http://conrad.senate.gov/webform.html

Conrad: (202) 224-2551 or email him at senator@dorgan.senate.gov.

Don’t wait to to do it. Like I said, it takes thirty seconds, and they need to hear from us!

My reply to the NRCC

I got a 2007 Membership Renewal form for the National Republican Congressional Committee in the mail this weekend. I figured it took a lot of guts to send them out, since it’s really just a fundraiser after they really didn’t perform at all since 2000, so instead of a check I typed up and mailed in this reply:

To: Congressman Tom Cole, NRCC Chairman

Re: Membership contribution request

Dear Congressman Cole,

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute to the NRCC. I was surprised to hear that there are actually any Republicans still in the Congress. The last time I sent you money, we controlled the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. We were really going to get things done. So what happened?

You’re asking me for money to help you fight for reform in the areas of immigration, Social Security, and Medicare…yet you had six years of total control in Washington in which to advance our agenda.

I make a modest living and am happy doing so, and thought that sending some of my valuable money to you Republicans while you were in power would actually help you accomplish something. I was sorely mistaken, and I won’t be making such a poor investment any time in the near future.

I was not one of those voters who “sat out” the last election in order to teach you Republicans a lesson. I do understand what’s at stake here. But for you to come back to us with your hat in your hand after a shameful squandering of six years in control of everything in Washington is too much. I won’t vote with my wallet the way I will with my ballot. Either you Republicans in the Senate had better start acting like conservatives, or you won’t have any support left from people who thought you were there to advance the causes about which we care most deeply.

Good luck. Your candidates will likely get my vote in 2008, but you won’t get one red cent. This time you earn it first.

PS: The same applies to Presidential candidates in 2008. At this point I remain firmly resolved to write-in Ronald Reagan.

I really don’t think anyone in Washington truly represents the people who vote for them any more. Look at the Democrats, for instance. The ones who ran on an anti-war platform don’t dare defund the war, because they know that’d be political suicide. So the crazy leftists who helped them raise money are going to be mad as heck. On the other side, our Republicans had six years to get things done, and had the power to do it, and still produced nothing.

This simply reinforces my long held belief that nobody in Washington is there to solve problems. What would the Republicans do if they couldn’t dangle the abortion or immigration carrot in front of us voters? Especially in this age where you’re only as important as your last five minutes’ performance, they’re just simply afraid of having no crisis handy with which they can rally the voters.

The letter I wrote pretty much says it all. I wish everyone who got the NRCC fundraising request would do the same thing. If nobody with an (R) by their name has any sack anymore, then they don’t deserve to be in national politics. Period.

Cowardly Earl Pomeroy continues to show his true colors

Once again, the cowardly Earl Pomeroy shows that he’s more devoted to trying to defeat Republicans than he is to defeating America’s enemies. While many on his side were calling for an increase in troop levels a while back to criticize the President, now they’re doing the opposite. But we shouldn’t be surprised.

You see, the cowardly Representative Pomeroy has always been clear on where he stands on this issue. As I pointed out in a post a while back, he voted against House Resolution 861 less than 24 hours before showing up at the funeral of a fallen Bismarck soldier, where he proudly looked all patriotic. This two-faced, cowardly liar had the nerve to wave and greet North Dakota soldiers and those of us there to support them less than a day after voting against a resolution supporting victory in the War on Terrorism.

The troop surge makes sense: let the rest of the soldiers in place in Iraq continue their operations as usual, while bringing in a force designed and deployed to root out the insurgency. But if we do that, then we don’t enable the Democrat party mouthpieces to cry “Civil War! Civil War!” But the fact of the matter is, they’re merely using this war as a means to attack Republicans here at home. That’s so cowardly, apparently Earl needed to be deployed back to Washington from ND to carry the mantle for the Democrats. He’s doing a bang-up job.

I’ve covered the text of the House Resolution in other posts so I won’t get into it again. Let it suffice to say that I’m not surprised to see cowardly Earl taking his five minutes to bravely stand the Democrat party line, trying to insure that our fighting men and women are not given the resources they require, hoping eagerly for a defeat to hang around the neck of a Republican president while paying for it with the blood of American soldiers. Way to go, Earl…you make me sick.

HB1040 passes! Plus some musing as I’m prone to do

This was a bittersweet day for the families of fallen soldiers in North Dakota. Some of those giving testimony in favor of House Bill 1040, which prohibits protesting near funerals or related activities, have had to endure some pretty nasty circumstances. That’s what sadly made this bill, now law, necessary.

As I’m sure everybody knows, a group from Westboro Baptist Church (which is not a Baptist church, they just claim it) was up here to protest funerals in North Dakota. I don’t recall them having the guts to set foot on sovereign tribal land, however…hopefully they didn’t. These people claim a weird mixture of twisted and perverted Old and New Testament theologies with rancid hate and come up with the tactic of protesting funerals across the country. What they don’t tell you is that they’re also licensed attornies just waiting for some outraged patriot to lay a hand on them. Thankfully we haven’t had any such cases here, although it does require a lot of personal restraint.

That’s where the Patriot Guard riders come in. While this picture from last June doesn’t convey how many people actually stand in attendance for the Patriot Guard, at least it shows that the families of fallen soldiers do not stand alone. It just goes to show that patriots can band together and honor our nation’s soldiers and their loved ones with actions, not just words.

So now, with this bill becoming law, protests like the ones I’ve decribed and stood to block are illegal. Will that make them stop? I sure hope so. Regardless, I’m sure the Patriot Guard riders will still stand in attendance to honor and pay respect to fallen soldiers and their loved ones whenever they’re called to do so.

The photo above is part of the ND state gallery. I’m holed up at home with a sore throat – fever – chills – headache kind of thing today. In fact, I slept from 7am to 7pm! Photos owned by the government are public domain, as far as I know…if they complain, I’ll take it down. But I don’t think I’m engaging in anything dishonest by using their photo. I’m sure Governor Hoeven and the others involved in this law’s passing are happy to get the word out. Now I’m going back to bed – my head’s in Mississippi (kudos if you get that music reference)

Citizens’ Night at the legislature

Last night the state legislature held a Citizen’s Night where they took care of some of the state’s business after hours. This allowed the public who are normally unable to make the regular daytime sessions to stop in and have a peek at how our elected legislators conduct the affairs of making the state’s laws. While it wasn’t as busy as I thought it might be, there seemed to be a pretty good crowd in the hallways.

This is the journal room, where folks can stop by to get a copy of bills they’re interested in. When I had an evening job and could hang out here during the session, I used to spend a lot of time at this window. It’s nice to have the text of the different resolutions and bills available, so you can read it yourself. Then go lean on the legislators from your district if necessary.

Upstairs there were a few groups with displays and people on hand to answer questions. I think these halls would have been busier, but this was during a point in the evening where everyone was jammed into meeting rooms to watch various committee hearings.

This building was built in the 1930s after the original capitol burned. I find it an aesthetically pleasing building, and it’s even cooler at night. There’s a lot of glass that glares into the building during the day, and I think that takes away from the style. At night a guy can see the building the way it was designed, and it’s really very nice. Not bad for such a rural state, huh?

This is one of those committee hearings that I mentioned earlier. In this particular meeting, Secretary of State Al Jaeger was answering questions regarding a bill, one which proposes to restrict an elected official on a city board or commission from serving on a county board or commission at the same time. While there are four people doing just that across North Dakota, he was unaware of any conflict of interest arising from the situation…yet. So it’s a precautionary bill. With larger cities expanding further into counties, there is always a chance of some friction, so I think this bill makes sense from that standpoint. By the way, did you know that only 15 cities in North Dakota boast populations in excess of 2,500 people?

This is the House chamber. There really isn’t anything going on here, because at the time I took this the session hadn’t come to order yet. I had other things to do at 8pm, so I was unable to hang around to watch the session. I’ve seen them before, they look a lot like this!

The Senate chamber. Smaller, cozier, and indicative of the inherent belief of Senators that they’re somehow special among everyone else, including the House. If you look toward the upper part of the screen, you’ll see Joel Heitkamp surfing moveon.org for his show’s talking points. Sorry Joel, I couldn’t resist!

Of course one of the highlights of any such event is going to be the free cookies and lemonade! These friendly ladies served everyone with smiles. This spread was provided and served by the Republican Legislative Spouses. Wait a minute, that doesn’t fit the cold-hearted, racist, greedy stereotype that I keep seeing in the media! Hm…

Thanks to the legislature for putting on this evening. I have to admit that I wish it had been more crowded. This kind of thing is quite interesting and enlightening. North Dakota’s legislature only meets every two years, so I suggest finding some time during the day to go wander around and take it all in. If it seems boring, it’s because you’ve never been there!

This rock is more patriotic than Congressman Earl Pomeroy

This enormous rock, about five feet tall and parked in a very remote location outside of Bismarck, has more patriotism than the American left. The owner of the land on which it sits, I presume, has adorned it with an American flag, the names of some North Dakota soldiers killed in the global war on terrorism, and the following quote from our President:

“We will not waver; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail.” George W Bush

It’s just a shame that very few people will ever see this rock; I stumbled upon it by accident while out getting the truck dirty. Can you imagine the heartfelt pride in our soldiers the artist must have felt as they painted this tribute to their sacrifice? It’s very moving and I had to tell you about it.

On the other hand, this reminded me of the cowardly Earl Pomeroy, the hapless US Representative from our fair state. While I and several hundred other motorcyclists stood guard outside the funeral of a fallen soldier, he came by to attend the funeral and offer waves and salutes. This happened less than 24 hours after he voted against House Resolution 861, titled “Declaring that the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror, the struggle to protect freedom from the terrorist adversary.”

This is so typical of the liberal Democrat mantra of “I support the troops, but I don’t support the mission.” Have you seen the text of the resolution that Earl voted against? If not, click the link above. But first let me point out that this resolution was a show of support: it didn’t promise funding, it didn’t have any policy riders in it, it was simply a declaration that Americans are doing a good work and that they’ll succeed. Earl disagreed.

Here’s some of the text. I left out all the “whereas” clauses because, while they’re part of the text, they are not the meat of the resolution:

Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

(1) honors all those Americans who have taken an active part in the Global War on Terror, whether as first responders protecting the homeland, as servicemembers overseas, as diplomats and intelligence officers, or in other roles;

(2) honors the sacrifices of the United States Armed Forces and of partners in the Coalition, and of the Iraqis and Afghans who fight alongside them, especially those who have fallen or been wounded in the struggle, and honors as well the sacrifices of their families and of others who risk their lives to help defend freedom;

(3) declares that it is not in the national security interest of the United States to set an arbitrary date for the withdrawal or redeployment of United States Armed Forces from Iraq;

(4) declares that the United States is committed to the completion of the mission to create a sovereign, free, secure, and united Iraq;

(5) congratulates Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki and the Iraqi people on the courage they have shown by participating, in increasing millions, in the elections of 2005 and on the formation of the first government under Iraq’s new constitution;

(6) calls upon the nations of the world to promote global peace and security by standing with the United States and other Coalition partners to support the efforts of the Iraqi and Afghan people to live in freedom; and

(7) declares that the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror, the noble struggle to protect freedom from the terrorist adversary.

What was so objectionable to cowardly Earl that he couldn’t vote YEA on this? Did he object to a “Whereas” in there somewhere? The only one that should count is this one:

Whereas the United States and Coalition servicemembers and civilians and the members of the Iraqi security forces and those assisting them who have made the ultimate sacrifice or been wounded in Iraq have done so nobly, in the cause of freedom;

That clause alone is worthy of a YEA vote. Instead, spineless Earl the Pearl voted along with such notorious wackbags as Nancy Pelosi and Charles Rangel, one of the guys who keeps saying our soldiers are too dumb or poor to choose other career options. Then he has the nerve to show up at the funeral of a fallen soldier the very next day, putting on his North Dakota face on the flight back, and presumes (correctly) that it will go largely unnoticed.

“Representatives” like Earl Pomeroy do not represent North Dakota or the majority of Americans. Some of them, like our beloved Representative, are backstabbers when it comes to our soldiers at home. They make all the right somber appearances here in North Dakota, then run back off to Washington to be who they really are. I’m glad people like the person who painted this rock are up to the task of supporting our fighting men and women worldwide. If I was a member of Travis Van Zoest’s family the day of the funeral, I’d have denied the two-faced Earl Pomeroy entry into the ceremony…at least until he explained to the hundreds of real patriots outside why he voted the way he did.

The official roll call of the vote can be found here.

The full text of House Resolution 861 can be found here.

Live from South Dakota

I’m right in the thick of it tonight, folks. Deep in south-southwestern SD, it’s interesting how many white Democrats have infiltrated the reservations. They’ve got a push for abortion going on that defies description.

The one bumper sticker I’ve seen so far that has it right says “Abortion is NOT the Indian way.” Yet many seem to have sold their souls to the Democrat party. The reservations seem to be the battle grounds for the abortion debate. As I type this, only 4-5% of the SD polls have closed…but so far the NOs are winning it for #6.

I don’t get it. What if some white guy said it would be a good idea to abort more Indian babies? Then the outcry of “That’s not the Indian Way” would be deafening. Would it be okay if he was a liberal Democrat? So far, I guess that’s the case.

I even saw a twisted slogan on a sign earlier this week: “A woman’s body is sacred. Vote NO on #6.” Apparently since they use a word like “sacred” they must know what it means, right? Obviously not. What if that unborn baby they choose to abort is female? Is her body somehow excepted?

You can’t go a few hundred feet without seeing a “NO on #6” sign here. They’re nice signs, printed on nice paper…likely the best you can buy. Meanwhile, the signs for actual South Dakota and tribal elections are hand-painted, many on particle board. See something weird in that? I do.

Like I said, the polls are closed. Assuming there aren’t any demands for recounts, flocks of white Democrats will leave South Dakota tomorrow, likely never to return. Maybe then the members of the Native Community who bought into their lies. Once they’ve served the purpose of pro-abortion liberals outside of South Dakota, they’ll be left here on “the Res” to rot.
