Washington Times catches up with me on Earl Pomeroy’s ties to Big Labor

I’m up to here in filthy Labor Union money!

I’ve been decrying Earl Pomeroy’s indebtedness to big labor unions for longer than I can remember. Just last week I posted about this, so scroll down if you missed it. Labor unions, which represent less than seven percent of North Dakota’s workers, are the majority of Earl Pomeroy’s top career-long contributors. They’re bankrolling a lot of those ads for Earl that are flooding the airwaves lately. And they’re getting what they paid for!

I’m glad to note that finally the mainstream media is picking up on this, most notably this article in the Washington Times. They’re connecting the dots too, and it’s really not that tough once someone starts paying attention. The problem (and reason why North Dakota elects Pomeroy, Conrad, and Dorgan) is that nobody has been paying attention for a long, long time. Times have changed, and they don’t bode well for Earl.

The legislation mentioned in the WT article can be summed up like this:

– First, Labor unions wrangle and cajole benefits from employing businesses like a giant tick bleeding a dog dry. They do whatever they can to force these employers to provide benefits far and above what normal working families receive, and which are in many cases unsustainable.

– Next, when they’re on the verge of bringing the employer to the point of closing up shop and leaving all those union employees to twist in the wind, they go to folks like Earl Pomeroy to write up a government bailout.

– In the end, the business gets screwed, the union hacks get what they want, we taxpayers get the bill, and Democrats get money and rent-a-thugs for their election campaigns.

We’re watching, Earl. We’re doing the math and watching your every move. You’d better start looking for a new job come November. Maybe one with a big, fat labor union benefits package!

‘Til the Storm Passes By

Like the line in one of my favorite gospel hymns says, the storm in this photo has passed by. It’s about to pound Wishek, if I recall. I was so sure, having checked the radar at 4:05pm, that Bismarck was gonna get pounded. Then the storm hooked a sharp right and proceeded to miss us almost entirely! My roof and siding are happy, but all the vehicles were inside the Garage Majal.

On a 9:30 taco run I stopped to take some video and a brief time-lapse of this storm as the clouds continued to boil in the eastern sky. The light changed while I was shooting so there’s a little bit of flicker as things adjust, but that’s the nature of time-lapse I suppose. Enjoy:

Earl Pomeroy once again votes AGAINST North Dakotans, FOR the labor unions that bankroll him

Anyone see a trend here? The labor unions own Earl. He represents them, not you.

In an effort to silence political speech they don’t want heard this November, the Democrats are ramming through legislation to stop organizations such as the grass-roots “TEA-Party” style groups from making their collective voices heard in the fight to save our nation and our freedom. Among the distinguished enemies of free political discourse: our own Earl Pomeroy, naturally.

Who’s fueling the engines of President Obama and the leftist Democrat Party in their attempt to “remake” our nation? Labor unions. Public sector labor unions in particular, but they’re all in the same boat. Guess who gets an exemption from this new law they’re passing? If you said “Labor unions” you’re wise to the game the Democrats are playing.

It’s no wonder that Earl Pomeroy represents Big Labor instead of North Dakota; after all, look at the list of his top donors throughout his political career! Every one of those check marks indicates a labor organization bankrolling Earl Pomeroy’s re-election and buying his votes.

By the way, labor union representation in North Dakota is still under seven percent according to the government’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even if every able-bodied union member in North Dakota was sending regular checks to Earl Pomeroy, they couldn’t compete with the out-of-state interests that own him.

It’s time to get Earl Pomeroy out of office. He has NOT represented North Dakota well over the past seventeen years. He’s a rubber stamp vote for the leftist Democrat Party. Send this post, the graphic, or a link to Earl Pomeroy’s donation information on opensecrets.org to your friends and family. Educate your fellow North Dakotans on what Earl Pomeroy’s been getting away with for nearly two decades. Let’s toss him out of office and elect someone who will represent North Dakotans and our interests instead of big out-of-state labor unions who want to wreck this nation and don’t care what happens back here in North Dakota!

Blue, green, and rust

It’s been a while since I posted YAWP (Yet Another Windmill Photo). I’ll admit that I’m partial to them; in fact, they have their own category on this site! When I find one that’s distinctive like this one I pay it particular attention. The colors of the day made it an even more attractive subject, since I’m especially tired of the dreary skies that have dominated much our spring and summer!

Memorial Bridge musings

This was the sunset scene from the Memorial Bridge last night. It was a very colorful scene, especially from where I was standing. It wasn’t the golden-hued blast I was anticipating, but definitely a nice bit of God’s handiwork to appreciate.

This brought to mind the fact that this bridge is fantastic in every way EXCEPT for the absence of a sidewalk on the north side! Thanks to this omission, it’s darn near impossible to get a clean sunset photo during the summer, since one must look northward to do so. I say “almost” because I still have my ways…

By the way, you may have noticed these sections of the old bridge as they’ve now been placed in memorial parks on either end of the new bridge. Cool, huh? The parks are not yet completed but I think they will be soon. The overlook on the Bismarck side might be a nice sunset viewing spot too, by the way!

Prairie dog “squee” (with bonus nom)

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with dailysquee.com, but if you aren’t you really should be. I don’t think you even need to be an “animal lover” like myself per se to be overwhelmed with cuteness on that site 🙂 They have some of the cutest baby animal photos in the world. “Squee” is a word for overwhelming cuteness, by the way.

I got my own little “squee” moment this weekend with my kids at the Dakota Zoo. This little baby prairie dog was poking around right by the glass where my 2 year old could watch him. He was so adorable I had to wait until he did something cute, like starting to nom some corn!

Earl Pomeroy’s office lying to, threatening North Dakota constituents and media…oh yeah, he’s under investigation too

“The BS is piled up this high around me, and I’m afraid North Dakotans are sick of it!”

Things are getting even more interesting for the hapless Earl Pomeroy, Democrat congressman from North Dakota. Not only is he trailing in the polls badly after his vote for Obamacare, but he’s also under ethics investigation for the curious timing of a fundraiser orchestrated for him by a former staffer the night before his vote on a financial bill in Congress.

On the Say Anything radio show a caller claims he was threatened by a staffer in Pomeroy’s office when he called to ask if Pomeroy has taken any bribes in exchange for his support of the Democrat agenda. Yikes! This from the office of the same Earl Pomeroy who refused to meet with his constituents before voting to toe the line for Obamacare last year. Not only does he not want to hear from his constituents, apparently his office is prepared to get nasty over it.

This is nothing new; apparently they’re threatening the media too. According to the Grand Forks Herald, Pomeroy’s office got a TV ad critical of Pomeroy’s vote pulled from the airwaves of at least one North Dakota television network, the stations run by KNDX TV here in Bismarck.

When asked by the Bismarck Tribune about the investigation into his fundraising, Pomeroy’s office simply showed that they think North Dakotans don’t deserve an answer from their “representative” in Congress.

Next, his office lied to the Grand Forks Herald when they claimed that “More than 60 percent of his campaign contributions came from North Dakotans — people from North Dakota.”

All it takes is a simple web query such as this one via opensecrets.org to show that Earl Pomeroy gets 80% of his money from out of state, NOT 40%. His office is lying to you.

North Dakotans have wised up to you, Congressman Pomeroy. That’s why you’re trailing in the polls despite spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in union money to attempt a facelift and salvage your sorry political career.

No wonder the Democrats want to regulate the Internet via the FCC…it took me less than fifteen minutes to come up with the information you see above. I may rant about politics on occasion, in order to stand up for principles I believe in, but unlike Pomeroy’s office, I can back it up. Anything in this post you see in colored text is a link to corroborate what I say. Do yourself a favor: stay informed, don’t fall for Pomeroy’s lies, and vote him out in November! Oh yeah…inform your friends, too. Politicians like Earl Pomeroy prefer uninformed constituents. Don’t give them what they want.

Elusive sunset view

Views like this have been few and far between, it seems. This summer has been cloudy. cool, windy…not exactly what one would expect from June on the plains. I’ve made a trip or two to Double Ditch in vain already this year, and the short term forecast doesn’t look good.

I always joke that I single-handedly extinguished the sun by purchasing a camera for astrophotography; when I got my first camera, I had a very short run of Northern Lights before the sun went dormant. Scientists have been scratching their heads, wondering why there haven’t been any sunspots! I think I know why.

Now that I have another new camera, I can joke that the skies have conspired against me…this time with clouds and cold temperatures. NASA is predicting the sun is going to awaken from its solar minimum in spectacular fashion, creating some amazing aurora borealis I presume, but will the clouds even let us see them? Only time will tell. If not, just call me a jinx!

Odd convergence

I was a little bummed tonight when clouds rolled in and blocked the sunset. I had envisioned a trip north, perhaps to Double Ditch, but soon realized that such a journey would be all for naught. As I nosed the truck eastward on Highway 1804, however, I did see something worth a quick photo: these rays.

These are really bizarre when you consider that the sun was behind me. The only explanation I can come up with is that they were caused by the sun breaking through the clouds behind me, really really high, and the apparent convergence of the rays of light is only due to the distance involved. The technical term for this is “vanishing point”, the point at which parallel lines seem to converge. Any other theories, since we know there wasn’t a second massive light source over the eastern horizon?
